Why this exists

Learning should help us return to Allah, not pull us into distraction.

Improving Muslim is being built for Muslims who want to watch beneficial lectures in a calmer environment. The goal is not to compete for attention. The goal is to protect it.

Our direction

The principles behind the platform

01

Focused Islamic learning without recommendation traps

Many people open a video platform intending to watch Islamic content, then get pulled into recommendations designed to maximize watch time. Even when the next video is not what they came for, it can be attractive enough to steal the next hour. This platform is designed around intentional learning instead: choose a series, watch the lesson, continue when ready.

02

Protection from harmful or inappropriate interruptions

Ads and recommendations can expose users to music, indecent imagery, alcohol, gambling, and other things they were trying to avoid. A Muslim learning space should be calmer and more careful. We want the viewing experience to respect the user's intention and reduce avoidable exposure to haram or doubtful content.

03

A better home for Muslim-aligned discovery

If this platform includes advertising in the future, it should serve the audience rather than exploit it. Muslim businesses, charities, events, publishers, and services can reach people who actually care about Islamic learning, while users are shown things that are more relevant and more respectful.

04

Progress over perfection

The name Improving Muslim is intentional. We are not building a platform for people who think they have arrived. We are building for people who are trying: learning a little more, returning after falling short, and making better use of their time one step at a time.

05

Respectful technology

The product should feel familiar enough to use easily, but not manipulative. That means simple navigation, watch progress, series order, useful search, and fewer features that turn learning into endless scrolling. For developers, this is the direction: build tools that serve intention.

What we are working toward

A quieter alternative for beneficial content

The first version is small: curated series, a focused watch page, and self-hosted video. Over time, this can grow into speaker pages, topic paths, notes, audio-friendly listening, and better ways to continue learning without being pushed into unrelated content.
